It's a smalls world after all!

What a week, what a week! So many possibilities, probabilities, opportunities and misfortunes. The misfortunes are not family nor health related (thankfully) so there is no need to worry. All I can say is that this country's recovery is taking far too long.

On the bright side however, is that I am finally getting my act together to get this shindig up and running. As they say, necessity is the mother of invention. So....

Here are this week's goodies.

I found this little Coppercraft Guild piggy bank that is as sweet as a button.

Even though Christmas is long gone, I'd been searching for a wooden nativity set and I found it this week. I think these are actually a combination of two sets, one with the village and carolers and the other one being the actual nativity scene.

I also got my hands on two little vikings from the same vendor at a local swap meet. Can you believe that I found another Kokeshi doll too?

I couldn't resist this little plate, and I mean little. It looks like it can be a saucer for an espresso cup. What I like about it is that it isn't painted on the outside, the blue is actually a part of the glass. It is signed on the bottom but I haven't been able to find any information on it.

Lastly, I really like this business card holder. I love the chevron pattern made with different wood types. It saves me from adding another project to my increasingly long list of them.

Yikes! I've neglected my poor little blog this week. I spent a few days working on my table and several hours of commuting in between. It was going to be my last week to have access to the woodshop so I was really pushing to finish it. It's almost finished, I just need to sand it and find a glass top for it. I was also hoping to route the edges but that'll have to wait.

I am also sad to say that this may be my last thrift share for a while. My thrifting runs have decreased and so have my finds. My time is going to be greatly limited starting next week because I am FINALLY gainfully employed! I am going to use whatever little free time I have to start selling on Etsy... yay!

So without much further ado... here are my latest goodies.

I know the scrabble letter trend is probably long gone by now but I couldn't resist. I wanted to make my own little sayings and use them for crafty purposes... maybe even my wedding (which has been on the back-burner). 

I've also been trying really hard not to buy any more books. However, when I took a look inside of this book I couldn't help myself. It is a book on Japanese Progressive Quilts and some of the designs are simply stunning!

Since I've been dabbling in woodworking recently I found this motorcycle to be incredibly charming. It is all made out of reed and small piece of wood. How cool is that?

Despite finding quite a bit of Dansk goodies in the past I had never found a plastic tray. The tray was designed by Gunnar Cyren and makes a great addition to the current plastics collection I have going. I also found a sweet little teak condiment set complete with little teak spoons!

To satisfy my art obsession I found two beautiful (japanese?) inspired prints. The detail I really enjoy on the first one is how the tree branches extend beyond the 'frame' of the print. 

I really love the composition of the second print. It is beautifully organic. They are both so whimsical and romantic...

ATG Thrift-Share Fun Time

This past week my finds were all over the place. For instance, I found this pair of boots. First of all, I LOVE this shade of brown so that was the first appeal.  I took a closer look and they were a size 8 1/2N. "Hmm, that could work. But I really don't need another pair of shoes..." I left them behind to continue my way to the housewares section. I ended up making my way around the store and found a piece of fabric with a neat pattern. I made my way back to the boots, they were still there. I took them off of the rack and saw the price tag.. $2.99! "For that price, I HAVE to try these on." They fit perfectly!

The piece of fabric that I found is actually a dish towel made by Funktion. I was planning on cutting it up for a project that I had in mind but now I'm not so sure. We'll see. At another thrift I found this little wooden bird. It has a mod look so I couldn't hold back. It is one of my weaknesses. I am also having a hard time figuring out the wood it is made out of. On the bottom the grain looks like mahogany, but the finished part of it doesn't look like mahogany at all. I plan on applying some wood conditioner to it to really make the wood sing.

After the rain subsided, I went to a garage sale. There i found a beautiful vintage table runner. I actually don't know whether to call it a knit/ crochet/ or lace table runner but what I do know is that it is beautiful. I picture using it at my wedding, it has the perfect blend of romance and vintage. My pictures really don't do it justice.

One of the most offbeat finds for me I think is this unicorn that I found. It reminds me of David Stewart for Lion's Valley but I've never seen a unicorn in his line. It pulled at my heartstrings because as a child I was fascinated by unicorns. Something I had long forgotten about. It may have been sparked by the My Little Pony craze at the time, also by the fact that the only How to Draw book at my local library was a Learn to Draw Horses book. I spent countless days drawings horses as a child and would try to get my friends to draw them as well. They always grunted at the idea but conceded because I was very persistent.

Last but not least, my favorite find of the week are my little warriors. I found these two little vintage vikings as I was paying for the unicorn. I am glad that I saw them because they were easy to miss amidst all of the figurines behind the cashier. They both measure in at about 4", so they really aren't that big but what they lack in size they make up for in cuteness.

I don't know about you guys, but I am really grateful for ATG's thrift share. It makes mondays a day to look forward to and it also motivates me to maintain a record of my purchases for the week. I'm sure the Listing Challenges will help as well once I get to that phase. Thanks Selena!
