These next few weeks are going to be busy, busy, busy. We're getting closer to our closing date and there are some deadlines coming up! Since I am one to have my priorities in check, I did a bit of thrifting this week. <span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #76a5af;"><i>teehee</i></span></span><br />

<br />
Even though I try to avoid California Pottery, there are some pieces I can't resist. This creamer is by Bauer and is clearly marked on the bottom. When I started picking, I would look for furniture and California pottery. I'll blame <a href="http://www.alamodern.com/">Bryan</a> for having such an <a href="http://www.calpotteries.com/">informative site</a> that enabled my early picking. I still get excited when I see a Bauer pieces in the wild. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzgrt0v6YUtJo5Oyf4iwdbI3k59sb_kzE276aa3czBD_COdY8mivTuqzdF7_D0fdUTxUtsUZcT8CYcioL2ehKkWQ4F4Y00eW5wgaKW4N09tzOY7-BA71SZEKW_J1-P8HtDLmQHtXHTSsGg/s1600/P1030269_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzgrt0v6YUtJo5Oyf4iwdbI3k59sb_kzE276aa3czBD_COdY8mivTuqzdF7_D0fdUTxUtsUZcT8CYcioL2ehKkWQ4F4Y00eW5wgaKW4N09tzOY7-BA71SZEKW_J1-P8HtDLmQHtXHTSsGg/s1600/P1030269_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
These next few pieces I found a while back. They are also California pottery pieces. I knew right away what these were because I'd seen them before when researching. They are by Metlox and are in the California Mobile pattern. The piece above is a celery dish. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjr2xG5vrugBM3pGlyhVrrODE1M3ckfMT12Y5HiTMAHdoS7ef1Lmp47s1sGnoWNykVTUclZQ6gu4Gdk5-ddrQwKdCTyLAOah188SpVrM4L4NWVuKLX4Ke7eF17Ncfi3TdEA_EnQjTvuIl80/s1600/P1030271_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjr2xG5vrugBM3pGlyhVrrODE1M3ckfMT12Y5HiTMAHdoS7ef1Lmp47s1sGnoWNykVTUclZQ6gu4Gdk5-ddrQwKdCTyLAOah188SpVrM4L4NWVuKLX4Ke7eF17Ncfi3TdEA_EnQjTvuIl80/s1600/P1030271_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
There is a bit of a funny story with these. I was at a Goodwill that is hit or miss with vintage items. I don't know about everyone's local Goodwill but some of the ones here in SoCal are often littered with donations from Target. Sometimes you won't find a single vintage piece. Luckily, I found these all tucked behind some other pieces and couldn't get to them fast enough. I searched high and low for more throughout the store but these were all that were meant to be. It just so happens that there was another vintage picker in the store at the same time. I know this because after she saw me walking around with these I overheard her telling her husband that <i>that</i> is the stuff she looks for at Goodwill. <i>That</i> being my recently found dishes. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuxfe8sCmIEjvOKDIkg1sTD0bg9kyYN0qKbLuLvN9iByToufZkipk-LGC__Z6CeXYOtvCAe73YoN8_LcE8PLecSSsKMiGWhQCayitqjoaLRCfW-Goy7cYNF1bFMzFKhGvTU60UlduGfOcZ/s1600/P1030273_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuxfe8sCmIEjvOKDIkg1sTD0bg9kyYN0qKbLuLvN9iByToufZkipk-LGC__Z6CeXYOtvCAe73YoN8_LcE8PLecSSsKMiGWhQCayitqjoaLRCfW-Goy7cYNF1bFMzFKhGvTU60UlduGfOcZ/s1600/P1030273_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I must admit that I felt a bit guilty because I knew that there was nothing else comparable at the store. However, that is how picking goes. Sometimes you just get lucky. What's funny is that she followed me around for a bit hoping that I would set them down. I'll just say that it isn't the first time that has happened. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiZ6R3xl1bjcCTpcDnBrhazjZQT4aEHjItAm3WNVRs-2tgw4rrvX6l9CSHCdqHaGYBMCOuMTaHejkQ4sOUlpC6tATVBWRFHkcYXfkAFu6VoBxQlIqxn5QNdfRbcvHqn6zaFB4_Ll9IPH67/s1600/P1030277_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiZ6R3xl1bjcCTpcDnBrhazjZQT4aEHjItAm3WNVRs-2tgw4rrvX6l9CSHCdqHaGYBMCOuMTaHejkQ4sOUlpC6tATVBWRFHkcYXfkAFu6VoBxQlIqxn5QNdfRbcvHqn6zaFB4_Ll9IPH67/s1600/P1030277_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Lastly, I found this piece over a month ago. The great pattern caught my eye initially. I walked toward it and upon feeling it I knew it was wool. I searched for a tag and was happy to find the words <i>Pendleton Woolen Mills</i> but was confused with "Beaver State". <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0-Z1XnjFcG2kPP3HmNbNks_o1OE4PkduRDx3MrlmKD6nx0oaVFBS6YrNyVlb57Nq9q2IzKvoculqBSAbRQzGm1IBAnYNRd_4dsKvI_GBf2rXMmCcnlrpyltqv8LOf34zqalx7dCun96lm/s1600/P1030278_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0-Z1XnjFcG2kPP3HmNbNks_o1OE4PkduRDx3MrlmKD6nx0oaVFBS6YrNyVlb57Nq9q2IzKvoculqBSAbRQzGm1IBAnYNRd_4dsKvI_GBf2rXMmCcnlrpyltqv8LOf34zqalx7dCun96lm/s320/P1030278_small.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
After some research, I learned that the term Beaver State was first used in 1919 when Pendleton sold Blankets, Robes and Shawls to local tribes. You can find a great google book excerpt <a href="http://books.google.com/books?id=rU8bY4lDMrQC&pg=PA130&lpg=PA130&dq=beaver+state+blanket+labels+dates&source=bl&ots=dL30JmqE8T&sig=nfeTRagQzXD1yZt9a4ANzCgtJR0&hl=en#v=onepage&q=beaver%20state%20blanket%20labels%20dates&f=false">here</a>. According to that source, my blanket is from 1923-1930 and it is in the Harding Pattern! I still can't believe how old it is because it's in pretty good condition. I've already had it dry-cleaned and it's ready for a new home. <br />
<br />
That's it for me! I hope you all have a great week. I'll be linking up with the folks at <a href="http://a-living-space.blogspot.com/">A Living Space</a> and with <a href="http://www.apronthriftgirl.typepad.com/">Selena</a> this week. <br />

I can't believe it has been three weeks since I last made a post. These past few weeks have been a whirlwind. There are many changes taking place. Thankfully they are all good changes. For starters, we're getting closer to closing on a house. Secondly, I am gainfully employed again! The best part so far is that the distance I commute to work in a <i>week</i> is significantly less than the distance of my previous <i>daily</i> commute! <br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I'll admit that some of these finds are old and if you follow me on twitter you've seen most of them already. I found this little guy at the Long Beach Flea Market a couple of weeks ago. He was just too charming and reminded me of tow-mater a bit too!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheQMEeTKsSAhtjaFWOjFPGLNRrS8y87mlfEQ1AOezNcMk7LW42sh7-LudVhkcp0hBap2LZtBMs_ABGUivSu__DwyF6J9j7QNhWJyjUEzZIEAWcGnyLBeSUJ9h4C2UlnkD6Lg0BTwaQ4Jwp/s1600/P1030258_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheQMEeTKsSAhtjaFWOjFPGLNRrS8y87mlfEQ1AOezNcMk7LW42sh7-LudVhkcp0hBap2LZtBMs_ABGUivSu__DwyF6J9j7QNhWJyjUEzZIEAWcGnyLBeSUJ9h4C2UlnkD6Lg0BTwaQ4Jwp/s1600/P1030258_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I also found this cute little wooden bus. This one is an Antonio Vitali design and is signed <i>Ravensburger Vitali Toys</i> on the bottom. It is missing the metal headlights and the little people that go in the bus but I had to have it anyway. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGtGW3vrCdGdjsM4UGzAhDY1_pbhFVjnpMxG7mBrkb3f9nuDpHJ-ZF_9J5AL7hLSQbAiI3slsbZoFsEnzA6OcmqLO067iAceStzEIsry-YOMn1Y0tTFoE89zy6EpdnAh2DWpM9OyFxvyHO/s1600/P1030260_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGtGW3vrCdGdjsM4UGzAhDY1_pbhFVjnpMxG7mBrkb3f9nuDpHJ-ZF_9J5AL7hLSQbAiI3slsbZoFsEnzA6OcmqLO067iAceStzEIsry-YOMn1Y0tTFoE89zy6EpdnAh2DWpM9OyFxvyHO/s1600/P1030260_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Look at this guy! I could not resist him even though I did try. I saw him when I had just arrived at the market. He was a bit spendy but I was in love. I thought I was being hasty and decided to leave him behind. I did a loop through the entire market and then decided to return to the dealer to see if he was still there. He was. I asked the price again and he recognized me and said <i>same price</i>. I stood there for a good 10 minutes debating if he was worth it while the dealer gave a neck rub to a lady friend. I really didn't want to pay as much as he was asking because he was going in my collection and was not going into the shop. I threw a number out there and the dealer said "<i>ah heck, I don't give a $h!t</i>". So he came home with me!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhET8thb1sl94JALhat4-kjsHQg8lyvyPaUe0Vw2f9LZdCeNO0KMdwRrZU6xpZ0oJGgAqkBqfo51sw5pLZ42GQZn68z7rlXFK6IJZZk6MbSF-WiIpzR0_YY6BjAi8_vls3UDheftNfvcyS2/s1600/P1030257_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhET8thb1sl94JALhat4-kjsHQg8lyvyPaUe0Vw2f9LZdCeNO0KMdwRrZU6xpZ0oJGgAqkBqfo51sw5pLZ42GQZn68z7rlXFK6IJZZk6MbSF-WiIpzR0_YY6BjAi8_vls3UDheftNfvcyS2/s1600/P1030257_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Lastly, I found this beauty yesterday. I saw it for the first time at the Long Beach flea market a couple of weeks ago and I thought it was really cool. I didn't even ask about the price because this dealer usually sells at retail prices. This was my only find this week but boy is it a good one. If you haven't guessed by now, it's an early nutcracker designed by Jens Quistgaard. It has the old staved teak mark on the bottom and will be perfect for the holiday season. Maybe this year I'll buy a bag of hazelnuts and put it to use!<br />
<br />
Hopefully this post marks the resumption of regular bog posts but I know this is the calm before the storm. Thanks for stopping by and until next time!<br />

I had all the good intentions of posting these finds before I left but I was in a mad rush before our trip. We went to look at a house the day before we left and ended up putting an offer on it. This one looks like it is going to go through!<br />
<br />
For our trip we stayed in Cali but we drove North along the coast and it was spectacular! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I found a few things a couple of weeks ago starting with this lovely Nymolle dish. I haven't been able to find another one like it. I love the innocent and child-like illustrations on these pieces don't you?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbm1prI6JXS4UuvjFoW84HLAYoumuVJkTOaYDSj5NVHw517dDPhfiYZ_jHnZSHqJlGYjaa4dvMbPFwLmUIq6GmYs9nLPxaLj0jgM3nrSsvMepM6GTKzM5YBAbVmmBKCI9swN3FHlFaj8sc/s1600/P1070156_small.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbm1prI6JXS4UuvjFoW84HLAYoumuVJkTOaYDSj5NVHw517dDPhfiYZ_jHnZSHqJlGYjaa4dvMbPFwLmUIq6GmYs9nLPxaLj0jgM3nrSsvMepM6GTKzM5YBAbVmmBKCI9swN3FHlFaj8sc/s1600/P1070156_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I found this great wire cat that I believe is a Ravenware piece. The wire on this has a nice thickness to it. The tail is a bit wonky but it works all the same. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUhjLJirhtLQ8eDPOvTPWvviNjp0mnzYxBPBRe_nxLAqhlRFJiwJ-enSAkNgyDBp4r6C4Ge9YIJsbizyIkvOYS4JYEmK0e1HqgePTFQMhLpptM6IPz1EzU7vf1kpka6WHGjXa_F7QFM-_8/s1600/P1070155_small.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUhjLJirhtLQ8eDPOvTPWvviNjp0mnzYxBPBRe_nxLAqhlRFJiwJ-enSAkNgyDBp4r6C4Ge9YIJsbizyIkvOYS4JYEmK0e1HqgePTFQMhLpptM6IPz1EzU7vf1kpka6WHGjXa_F7QFM-_8/s1600/P1070155_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I succumbed to the temptation of Le Creuset again! There were a few of these pieces in blue but by the time I decided to bite the bullet this was the only decent one left. It is a #14 and the interior just needs a light cleaning and the wood a bit of oiling and it'll be as good as new. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9AapSv9h-W1XkjQ0frC9n0OnFUqVHKAf8w6jWdTJHc1VZVtKxc3szCUPnxJRoPX_J2bBqtFwAmT1oPmS4Hqh4lf7EFAB3qtjcwGHx6oG7JzGFDkbCPgzRrJ9BMsFgSW7MShzIevjnGzmf/s1600/P1070144_small.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9AapSv9h-W1XkjQ0frC9n0OnFUqVHKAf8w6jWdTJHc1VZVtKxc3szCUPnxJRoPX_J2bBqtFwAmT1oPmS4Hqh4lf7EFAB3qtjcwGHx6oG7JzGFDkbCPgzRrJ9BMsFgSW7MShzIevjnGzmf/s1600/P1070144_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Lastly, I found my first Dansk flamestone pieces. They aren't in the best shape but since I've never found any of these pieces I had to get them. The sugar bowl has a small nick on the lid. <br />

I was really drawn to the coffeepot. The shape is simply elegant. The design is so nice that even the boy approved. Let me tell you that that is no small feat!<br />
<br />
Here is a small snapshot of one of our stops. The views were absolutely breathtaking and the weather was great. <br />

Now it's time to hunker down and keep on keeping on!<br />

Do you wonder about the previous life they had before getting donated? This week I did more so than usual. All of these items are from the same thrift and I can't help but wonder if they all came from the same home. <br />

First are these lovely Figgjo wall plates. They must have just been put on the shelf because they were all still together. It tells a story of a much simpler time when you would catch your own food and then prepare it into a nice meal. These practically flew out of the <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/vintagescapes">shop</a>! <br />

This ashtray is a design by Isamu Kenmochi for Trend Pacific. This is one of the pieces that takes me to another time in a mid-century ranch style home with great den. A time when smoking and chrome were all the rage. <br />

Paired with a great Dal Negro poker set and you're set to entertain the boys. I was drawn to this set because of the great wooden box. Imagine my surprise when I opened it and saw the cards and money chips. It reminded me of all of the nights I played poker with my dad as a kid. I didn't spend the nights locked up in my room, or on the computer, or on my ipad, etc. I spent them playing games with my dad. He taught me how to play pretty well and as a result I could hold my own with "the guys". <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Lastly, this piece is nothing short of amazing. It is an Olivetti Valentine typewriter designed by Ettore Sottsass in 1969. It had not been on my radar until today. I think the only reason it was still there is because it was in its plastic case. I don't think many people found the case interesting enough to investigate further, it wasn't in the best shape after all. I always love the look of vintage typewriters and so I was immediately intrigued when I pulled it out. The color was great, the design was great, but did it work I wondered? I asked the cashier if she could give me a sheet of paper to test it out. After pulling a few knobs and levers here and there I was able to test it out. All of the keys work and the ribbon is still good. The only thing is that the return doesn't work so I'll have to take it to a local typewriter repair man. Luckily, I know that one still exists locally because he helped me with my Hermes 3000.<br />
<br />
Doesn't this piece help you envision a great den where poker games were held, letters were written and fun was to be had? It does for me! <br />
<br />
I'll be sharing the rest of my finds next week. I'll be on vacation with the boys' folks. We're taking a road trip!<br />

I honestly didn't know what to expect. I now realize why people say it is a roller-coaster. I didn't expect much the first month because I was just getting started but things were picking up by the second month and looking good. Then came summer and oh boy can we say a drought came along with it on Etsy! As a result, some twitter folks decided to take up Ebay and I am so very tempted to follow suit. Do any of you sell on Ebay? Would you like to share any tips?<br />
<br />
This week I didn't do much thrifting. Sales have pretty much come to a screeching halt and I find myself with lots of inventory waiting to be listed. All of these finds are from either last week or even prior to that. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I often get creeped out by porcelain dolls or anything with faces on them. I put those feelings aside for these because I thought someone on Etsy would love to have them. They appear to be UCTCI pieces because of the glaze. How do you feel about babydoll faces?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Trays, trays, trays. I love trays almost as much as I love baskets. I loved the floral paisley-esque pattern on these. I think it'd look great in an eclectic or bohemian setting. <br />

I was really excited when I saw this piece sitting in a display cabinet. I was certain it was a Bjorn Wiinblad piece. I've seen his face pieces before however this one isn't signed. Upon further research I think it is actually a piece by Fitz and Floyd in the manner of Wiinblad. <br />

Lastly, I have a really weak spot ( <i>i know I have many</i> ) for leather bags. A couple of months ago I passed on what I believe was an authentic Hermes Birkin bag. Well, since that day I won't pass on a bag that I believe to be leather even if it is a little more than I'd like to pay. This is a vintage Brahmin bag and while they aren't really high-end they're still a nice brand. This puppy just needs a little saddle soap and it should be as good as new (<i>i hope!</i>)<br />

I'll be sharing at <a href="http://apronthriftgirl.typepad.com/apron_thrift_girl">Selena</a>'s this week. Have a great one!<br />

This image was used to showcase several place setting pieces, from the china to the glassware and silverware. This is what was said about the Hallcraft pieces:<br />
<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<i>Despite its thrifty price, the pretty dinnerware, timeless as a sonnet, has a good chance of becoming heirloom. Its designer is one of our country's most celebrated, Eva Zeisel, winner of a flock of awards - and some of her china is already treasured by museums as full-fledged art. This pattern, called "Bouquet," is brought out by Hallcraft at $9.95 for a 16 piece starter set. I have a few finds I'm excited to share with you. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTtyMSwr0QP4X545grHnsmn5i6M2mOWruEDEVkUZqXAZC7km7JPDPfIoQEfgVofZpkCTsPqKkgXCOb5yESFwLgGWBHzwy0QD4p5Td0KFZodZ-KdE9tu66u-OOhf7OieJlwaQ14RWV39YZy/s1600/P1030222_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTtyMSwr0QP4X545grHnsmn5i6M2mOWruEDEVkUZqXAZC7km7JPDPfIoQEfgVofZpkCTsPqKkgXCOb5yESFwLgGWBHzwy0QD4p5Td0KFZodZ-KdE9tu66u-OOhf7OieJlwaQ14RWV39YZy/s1600/P1030222_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Any of you recognize this piece? I found a smaller version of this bowl some time ago at a nearby estate. This weekend there was another estate sale at the same place! I'd found some lovely pieces the first time around so I was excited to see what was there this time. I was surprised to find some new things that hadn't been put out previously. One of them being this lovely Eva Zeisel bowl for Schmid. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh25RBdwXX4CXE2TEVHQtkf9kerGYTjIONshVmknH64DsH82PvqCUHwDvhHQZOtG_mQQTqIVutl-a8yuB15oex767VFAAlq4YSaDsk2Hu3CeT6R0HkDnMv_tFrZnnQ_EGeTI5jxMCsQh8CJ/s1600/P10302204_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh25RBdwXX4CXE2TEVHQtkf9kerGYTjIONshVmknH64DsH82PvqCUHwDvhHQZOtG_mQQTqIVutl-a8yuB15oex767VFAAlq4YSaDsk2Hu3CeT6R0HkDnMv_tFrZnnQ_EGeTI5jxMCsQh8CJ/s1600/P10302204_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
The other new piece was this little Cathrineholm Lotus bowl! The bowl is a little one at 5-1/2" wide but it doesn't have any chips. What it does have is some calcium/ lime deposits along the interior. Anyone know how to remove these? <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJNngKcHduRHt7JMsWY7RnpraJ5CXbk6lyq2M9ZqRAwJM3cV8-OF0mzVSYWKEuX_J1EbgsbJUYiRDdibxqZj4UsYS77VuxClxntFSInMkF5abweQ3AuiCcBBK9gL90bkPDs95l8uBvqe3m/s1600/P1030243_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJNngKcHduRHt7JMsWY7RnpraJ5CXbk6lyq2M9ZqRAwJM3cV8-OF0mzVSYWKEuX_J1EbgsbJUYiRDdibxqZj4UsYS77VuxClxntFSInMkF5abweQ3AuiCcBBK9gL90bkPDs95l8uBvqe3m/s1600/P1030243_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I decided to swing by a swap meet that I haven't been to in a long time. I don't know why I chose this particularly HOT weekend but I did. As a result I found this lovely Coquille piece by Flygsfors. It caught my eye and I picked it up to inspect it. One of the ladies running the booth shouted out a price and I felt really bad. I don't think they were selling much and so I bought it out of guilt. I'm glad I did! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitwNRrgPoS_QJ-dLM3rma9-w2BZVD2N2Er7BWk9Ux6FEj9pEhy6g9ml2ci2uiXVpRYb1AVpo5KMV76iJvrDdAcXwkQwguEmzKmpYzZ21IfOPAFyovqJNy7Ts7qQkVOY0k4F7z8ywz867jY/s1600/P1030235_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitwNRrgPoS_QJ-dLM3rma9-w2BZVD2N2Er7BWk9Ux6FEj9pEhy6g9ml2ci2uiXVpRYb1AVpo5KMV76iJvrDdAcXwkQwguEmzKmpYzZ21IfOPAFyovqJNy7Ts7qQkVOY0k4F7z8ywz867jY/s1600/P1030235_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Lastly, I found this lovely porcelain sugar bowl. It is unmarked and I can't seem to find an ID for it. I've checked some of my usual suspects but this piece isn't from any of their lines. Do any of you have a clue as to who this may be by?<br />
<br />
I'm hoping to be a lot more productive this week now that the Olympics are over. I tried to pry myself away from watching them at times but I couldn't help it. I loved watching some of the events live. However, don't get me started on the "<i>Primetime</i>" NBC TV coverage. <br />
<br />
Have a great week all! <br />

I'm going to keep this post short and sweet so that I can get back to the olympic olympics watching. :) <br />
<br />

<br />
I love these little wire letter organizers. This is the first one I've seen in a silver color. He looks like a Westie or Schnauzer don't you think?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlnBrbpVutK51kRyXf9RTnyWeCtr7J3A1MRuB6dh3wtUv7ca1cz0QBL4AHTFeASEEXACTtMDjcKJdLFRn460sWiiKyAAn3dMZYBDFAbmn3vAiP1CgLzZ09RCyZpD1B3yIJoj3K4WQ_Tsrl/s1600/P1070028_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlnBrbpVutK51kRyXf9RTnyWeCtr7J3A1MRuB6dh3wtUv7ca1cz0QBL4AHTFeASEEXACTtMDjcKJdLFRn460sWiiKyAAn3dMZYBDFAbmn3vAiP1CgLzZ09RCyZpD1B3yIJoj3K4WQ_Tsrl/s1600/P1070028_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I've refrained from buying any Couroc pieces for a while because while I find them to be neat, they don't really do all that well on Ebay or Etsy. This one is an exception because I've never seen this design. It has an inlay that looks like a Pasadena Rosebowl ticket commemorating 100 years of Intercollegiate Football. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg21-Dsb0RNHNN44EyujH5pogPm7rWaj7jaUG9rzN2-hiWnvSk4wWAEOQ9KbruNBaYfnF1mcVZScGV0UswhVwr5hXsEX8YT_FSMdlQP5YOzhcXvAe7RoQHtRoPD2OjBUK1wWivSoIrHCvAP/s1600/P1070032_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg21-Dsb0RNHNN44EyujH5pogPm7rWaj7jaUG9rzN2-hiWnvSk4wWAEOQ9KbruNBaYfnF1mcVZScGV0UswhVwr5hXsEX8YT_FSMdlQP5YOzhcXvAe7RoQHtRoPD2OjBUK1wWivSoIrHCvAP/s1600/P1070032_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
This next piece is a music box with a design of Beethoven by Andy Warhol. I've passed some Warhol items in the past so I had to get this one. When you open it it plays a portion of Beethoven's 5th! It's not "vintage" enough for Etsy so if you're interested give me a shout. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLyEN_4blj-He-JOAnHfEVgsDLyn-NeK3MtqAbmjntbvhBlIrnbAcTMtLWlGfZZ5KqNZd_jjAAAze_ZkuRG8GeB8JjjPu0PRUltkuYUN2X5idZvZ6pr5MDwbkh7UnXZQ4yH_LWmFZfF6jB/s1600/P1070012_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLyEN_4blj-He-JOAnHfEVgsDLyn-NeK3MtqAbmjntbvhBlIrnbAcTMtLWlGfZZ5KqNZd_jjAAAze_ZkuRG8GeB8JjjPu0PRUltkuYUN2X5idZvZ6pr5MDwbkh7UnXZQ4yH_LWmFZfF6jB/s1600/P1070012_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Lastly, I bought my first Tensor lamp. I couldn't resist this one because it is small, brassy and elegant. This is the 5975 model and can even be hung on a wall.<br />
<br />
That wraps up my finds for the week. Fellow thrifters, I must confess that I did some thrifting yet again. While I've greatly reduced my thrifting trips and I believe I've become more selective, I still can't resist some pieces. I think they are all pretty great and since thrifts can often dry up for months I figure I should enjoy it while it lasts right? <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiwPJBi5ftZIsN-NwxJRjHkokSmn6pQMNzzs4mhdqDpFGrBs84HAiDq9CWsyDGCINhuEBXBvBcPaDtKxTaSY29OCvypK0KlfB8Arogrn1N-VHe1oETdcGfXc5TRG45wpgl5gCemRYrmyGS/s1600/P1060999_smaller.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiwPJBi5ftZIsN-NwxJRjHkokSmn6pQMNzzs4mhdqDpFGrBs84HAiDq9CWsyDGCINhuEBXBvBcPaDtKxTaSY29OCvypK0KlfB8Arogrn1N-VHe1oETdcGfXc5TRG45wpgl5gCemRYrmyGS/s1600/P1060999_smaller.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
My eyes popped when I saw this piece at the thrift (it actually has a partner which still needs to be cleaned). I had seen these before (years ago) on blogs and highly coveted them. Isn't it cute? It is a vintage Samsonite Fashionaire suitcase. The design is often rumored to be Marimekko but I've not found a reference to confirm that. It certainly has that flavor. This piece would be great to use for travel or even storage in the home. I had quite a bit of scrubbing to do on it because there was some adhesive residue which had yellowed.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7zcYyVk7_xEH5LFjRjyXO0Dzh228crAKoaklBf09JL1ZYMaUPjz2JjSHEn_m3IEFeBGjox-OsBljiE9CbhMRCEsDD8UsNmi8lNNi7vvLzbAGFLilphzEky2byAgFRUaOvwNlhEsNnVS1i/s1600/P1070008_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7zcYyVk7_xEH5LFjRjyXO0Dzh228crAKoaklBf09JL1ZYMaUPjz2JjSHEn_m3IEFeBGjox-OsBljiE9CbhMRCEsDD8UsNmi8lNNi7vvLzbAGFLilphzEky2byAgFRUaOvwNlhEsNnVS1i/s1600/P1070008_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I also found some lovely smalls. I found a lovely Dansk Teak Ice Bucket with the older four ducks logo. The little carafe/ decanter is a pyrex piece that was made for Weico. I thought the little wrap and colorful beads were a nice touch. I also found a nice set of colorful pans that are awfully similar to Krenit pieces because of the matte black on the bottom. They have a nice weight to them too but I haven't been able to confirm an id. The ceramic piece on the right is my very first William Manker find. He was a notable California potter.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH_k5IpIRcRSsQ0846AKipDMyfOTKHWhpynpK3VG9tzsbSRzfE9dWWarzG6R3NF5oIxbvZbeu3BlM9mWAkuHAi_ocyXUJBy_elOdcm9hDhCMVu9H04g6dkyZezPfolJiU6dCMgtU211N7q/s1600/P1060997_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH_k5IpIRcRSsQ0846AKipDMyfOTKHWhpynpK3VG9tzsbSRzfE9dWWarzG6R3NF5oIxbvZbeu3BlM9mWAkuHAi_ocyXUJBy_elOdcm9hDhCMVu9H04g6dkyZezPfolJiU6dCMgtU211N7q/s1600/P1060997_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Lastly, I thought these were just too cool. There was a decent sized box full of cast aluminum antlers at an estate. I was intrigued because I've never seen anything like them. I walked out with a few sets and am planning on keeping one for myself. If anyone is interested in a set let me know. I think these would be great mounted and used as a coat rack, jewelry display or just for decorative purposes. They're a great alternative to real ones from an actual critter. What do you think?<br />
<br />
That's it for my finds. I'm going to be tuning in to the Olympics because I love watching the athletes. They dedicate such a huge chunk of their daily lives to accomplish amazing feats. It's truly inspiring.<br />
<br />
I'll be linking up with <a href="http://herlibraryadventures.blogspot.com/">Sophie</a> and <a href="http://apronthriftgirl.typepad.com/apron_thrift_girl">Selena</a>.<br />

I know that last week I said I would try to not thrift but I failed. I couldn't resist the temptation of stopping by one or two places while out running errands. I did restrain myself from buying a lot of things so that's a positive right?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I found this lovely set of glasses by Culver. They are from the Devon line and the gold detailing may actually be 22K gold! There is a set of 8 and they are in great condition. I am so tempted to keep these because they are a great size.They aren't too big nor too small and are super stylish. <br />

I actually found this El Palomar piece last week and I'm not quite sure what to call it. It's quite large. Is it a bowl? A planter?<br />

<br />
This is a find from this week. I've seen these cool bubble mirrors around and I've always thought they were fun. I carried this around with me at the thrift but decided to leave it behind at the last minute. I started regretting it and when I got home I decided to do a bit of research on it. It has a Turner label on it and is from the 70's. Needless to say I went back the following day to get it and luckily it was still there! This one is about 18"X18". It's also a rare occasion for the boy to think one of my finds is cool and this one made the cut. <br />

No you're not seeing double. I found one of the small ones some time ago but the rest are from one thrift store last week. I hinted at them in last week's thrift post. My eyes nearly popped out of their sockets when I saw them on the shelf! While there is much debate about whether or not these are Jacob Bang pieces, I think they are. They are well made and do not have seaming. Later on in the week I went to another thrift with the boy. THAT is a rare occasion. As we were walking around he noticed one of these canisters and pointed it out to me. I said to him "Good eye!" and he replied, " I saw it from a mile away". So humble. It did make me chuckle though. Last night as we were watching a movie he noticed all of the MCM furniture and then commented in disbelief that I've rubbed off on him. Ha!<br />

Lastly, my favorite find of the week is this lovely vintage set of Dansk teak salad servers. They appear to be unused and still have the original bag, price and care instructions! They are marked Dansk Designs, Denmark JHQ meaning these were designed by Jens Quistgaard. I was hoping to find the salad bowl that goes with these because it's a looker but we can't have it all right?<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed my finds. Have a great week and be safe!<br />

Last week I shared a snippet of all of the vintage magazines I purchased at an estate sale. I said I would share some of the ads in them. As promised, I am sharing an image for a party chicken salad. When I saw the ad I was overcome with excitement, not because I like chicken salad but because I LOVE Raymor Capri. <br />

<span style="color: #45818e;">Have a Great Weekend!</span></div>

This week went by without blog posts on my end, however I am happy to announce that they were substituted by a fairly regular workout routine of cycling and weight training. I used to run in my younger days and am now faced with runner's knee as a result (womp womp). Since I can't run, I am trying out cycling and so far so good. I haven't been this sore in years. It's kind of nice. <br />
<br />
Well enough about me, let's get on with the thrift share! This week I am sharing both old and new finds. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq9b-xXBj5Z58VGBVTh3N4JFPa3SwE1lo3xHAGkt66PrD0gvYCx-tReXPKch4J_icLDFrX9JLSRVFHTMmRDFPWIUmJgSqJmCpuLRzNGrVDTNxattqKX29Q-DJy2Un-HJjLCsPqc8TPLH6D/s1600/P1060352_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq9b-xXBj5Z58VGBVTh3N4JFPa3SwE1lo3xHAGkt66PrD0gvYCx-tReXPKch4J_icLDFrX9JLSRVFHTMmRDFPWIUmJgSqJmCpuLRzNGrVDTNxattqKX29Q-DJy2Un-HJjLCsPqc8TPLH6D/s1600/P1060352_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
These beauties caught my eye because of the smoky color and the shape. I picked them up and I was sold. They feel fabulous in the hand. The glass is so delicate and there was a set of four. After some research and help from some twitter folks, these are confirmed to be Holmegaard glasses in the Copenhagen line. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I found these fun enamel plates at an estate sale. I probably paid too much for them but they were just too colorful and cheery to pass up! They'd be great for cereal. <br />

<br />
This was the first time I came across a Stavangerflint item. I loved the sweet little illustration by Kari Nyquist. Any golf couples out there? <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimizchzKHjrgFwYcdE2bCB-pjRLh9rgSK6t6zZRcKgYtchu3CYl-kftfQWacyp7GVqnOA7awj1OnTztinuLyVhXuLi6Z5czvK9j7dQPSPoO9VxvnTE6sO4jpTZJ1qIqrKOrKalxD_b7VBk/s1600/P1060892_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimizchzKHjrgFwYcdE2bCB-pjRLh9rgSK6t6zZRcKgYtchu3CYl-kftfQWacyp7GVqnOA7awj1OnTztinuLyVhXuLi6Z5czvK9j7dQPSPoO9VxvnTE6sO4jpTZJ1qIqrKOrKalxD_b7VBk/s1600/P1060892_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
This diverse set is my thrift haul from this week. There is a little fold-out ruler, a dymo label maker that I've been playing around with, a complete plastic picnic set, a lovely set of vintage napkins, a cute little pottery fish, a plastic Swedish trivet with a design that has been "attributed" to Stig Linberg and one of those wooden drawing mannequins. During all of my years of art courses I never had one of those. I'm always drawn to them and this one had a nice patina so I couldn't resist! I found some more beauties today but didn't get a chance to photograph them so you'll have to wait till next week. <span style="font-size: x-small;">(Hint: I mentioned one in <a href="http://vintagescapes.blogspot.com/2012/03/huntedgathered-032512.html">this post</a>)</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK9Xn9LSRYjsVtn6-bMgyUAAh_4TzX4tClJf8Lj2tKhc_Vk-4b8hwVX6H7K-zdd_SNMBk2aqmokQNDv3bz5sHWrSFAZRTA6-dkD7IQM_tfOAba5Uib5BcCzbNgKk6Nr5rmbUTCG57ojAPJ/s1600/P1060891_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK9Xn9LSRYjsVtn6-bMgyUAAh_4TzX4tClJf8Lj2tKhc_Vk-4b8hwVX6H7K-zdd_SNMBk2aqmokQNDv3bz5sHWrSFAZRTA6-dkD7IQM_tfOAba5Uib5BcCzbNgKk6Nr5rmbUTCG57ojAPJ/s1600/P1060891_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Lastly, I went to a somewhat local estate sale and walked out with a bunch of mid-century magazines. There are a couple of each of these: Sunset, California Home, The American Home and Better Homes and Gardens. See all of the posties? I've looked through all of them and flagged ads and articles that I look forward to sharing with you on the blog bit by bit. My most exciting ad find displayed a set of Raymor Capri pieces used for an ad for food!<br />
<br />
That about wraps up my week! I'll be sharing other backlogged items next week because I am going to avoid the thrifts this coming week. We'll see how that goes!<br />
<br />
I'll be linking up with the lovely <a href="http://herlibraryadventures.blogspot.com/">Sophie</a>. <br />

I had planned some extra blog posts for the week but I didn't follow through. Don't you hate it when that happens? Hopefully I'll pull them off for next week!<br />
<br />
This week I took it easy on the thrifting because of the previous week's
finds. I don't want to fall into a hoarder situation. There's a very
fine line.(hehe) Instead I spent more time photographing, cleaning, and
organizing some inventory to list in the shop. Most of these finds are
in the shop and have been in the shop for a while but I never got around
to sharing them with you. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
First is this cute Nymolle Cup and Plate set. I love the illustrations on these. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I found this nice little Rosenthal Bleikristall candy dish or votive candle-holder. I didn't know Rosenthal had a glassware line. I'm so used to seeing ceramics that it never crossed my mind. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I found this beautiful enamel on copper plate with a nice swirl pattern in the center. Surprisingly it's in great shape and the back of it is in a pale yellow enamel. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSG5Hl0pMGJGQjcNxmI0gr3x3jzLSGIw_uH03dET9HuEp8ElAgejlvLqio71WNiZ2hdq87p5FhoUpwwo2A8FqFZKP7ijBTY_bo-Ai8JJbqyZGUVF7-iHT9M1rxHSMqbPrnkXS78axU1BNR/s1600/P1060390_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSG5Hl0pMGJGQjcNxmI0gr3x3jzLSGIw_uH03dET9HuEp8ElAgejlvLqio71WNiZ2hdq87p5FhoUpwwo2A8FqFZKP7ijBTY_bo-Ai8JJbqyZGUVF7-iHT9M1rxHSMqbPrnkXS78axU1BNR/s1600/P1060390_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Don't you just love the textures of Italian pottery? This one is a piece for Rosenthal Netter. I love the contrasting textures, the glossy off-white and yellow glazes with that rough dark clay. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I was happy to add this little guy to my collection. It's been a while since I've found any wooden animals so he was quite welcome in my home. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I bought this because living in the great land of California, we have plenty of oranges all around and therefore fresh-squeezed is the way we do it in my abode. I actually have a glass reamer but the boy doesn't like the pulp! This has been a lifesaver. It's compact and very handy!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHq-7Fiu9AsykN6tAdmT2Cn9c1dTmTIjEhaPdeRs9bwD6X0hbZk1hcsOC9QiVhnq3dLpqWWhNpjLEQ0kbjNVmtX2X_Xt2yXxlJo8cIsTNYpf75x-rOSsN6BPhyphenhyphenPkguEWwJZPB18Nj_omYf/s1600/P1060789_blog.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHq-7Fiu9AsykN6tAdmT2Cn9c1dTmTIjEhaPdeRs9bwD6X0hbZk1hcsOC9QiVhnq3dLpqWWhNpjLEQ0kbjNVmtX2X_Xt2yXxlJo8cIsTNYpf75x-rOSsN6BPhyphenhyphenPkguEWwJZPB18Nj_omYf/s1600/P1060789_blog.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Lastly, this was a piece I acquired last week with a set of knit afghans. It was love at first sight. It was from a local auction and I probably paid a bit more than I should have for the lot. What can I say, I got the auction bug. This was before I found the Hudson's Bay blankets and I wanted a striped blanket so bad that I went for it. The lady from the auction house said it was an Irish blanket or tapestry but I really have no idea. It is double-sided, it's not wool and feels a bit rough to be a blanket but too thin to be a rug. It is also twice as long as it is wide (about 54" X108"). Do any of you have any ideas? Aren't the colors great? I plan on using it as a rug for our new abode (if it actually comes through). <br />
<br />
So what did you find this week? I'll be linking with Sophie from <a href="http://herlibraryadventures.blogspot.com/">Her Library Adventures</a> this week. <br />

I've added a lot of photos on my <a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Vintage-Scapes/232382603507317">facebook page</a> of some of the available inventory that I have. Some items are in my item shop but others are not. If you find something that interest you please don't hesitate to ask about it! <br />

Wow. How quickly time passes you by...<br />
<br />
I've been a busy bumble bee in my neck of the woods, or at least it feels that way! The shop did well this month and it has only invigorated me to keep chugging along. The hours put in and the money earned still aren't close to being comparable to my previous day job but I am confident that it can get there. I also believe that it's good to diversify your sources of income anyway, especially for young architects like myself (the field is still highly unstable). <br />
<br />
The finds I'm sharing this week are a combination of this week's and last week's estate sales. Last week I decided to venture out to Orange County for an estate sale that had a lot of Abraham Palatnik items in one of their preview pictures. I didn't find anything else of interest in the pictures and so all of my eggs were riding on the Palatnik.<br />
<br />
Since I am my mother's daughter, I get serious anxiety over silly things like Estate Sales. I went to bed and woke up at an ungodly hour due to my nerves. I tried to go back to sleep but I knew I was only kidding myself. I decided to drag myself out of bed and figured that waking up really early and heading out early would secure me a top spot in the estate sale list. The sale was set to start at 8am. I arrived sometime between 5 and 5:30 only to find I was #2! The other good reason for leaving early was to avoid the bad commuter traffic. So what was I going to do with that time? I decided to call my mom who conveniently lives on the East Coast. I started chatting with some of the other folks that started trickling in only because I felt obligated to apologize for my car alarm going off at 6am! I struck a conversation with the lady who was #1 on the list and it turned out she was an LA dealer with a shop in Hollywood. Whoa! We chatted about her beginnings as a seller, she gave some advice, we shared some fun stories and then before we knew it we were 15 minutes away from the start of the sale. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXu7VbgOVY4X6jn8krJ3yDQfxb2U9EgL4fhwMEwNnT4FT94UJq0-Q0GdOX1IlGSqKw7Y1LEymfuMSx-jF4Pe3DXnUbX9lbiBenX-bWVPCN5fOxVF3m6yCz4DkWZaUSrTw8M852AmKu9amp/s1600/P1060560_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXu7VbgOVY4X6jn8krJ3yDQfxb2U9EgL4fhwMEwNnT4FT94UJq0-Q0GdOX1IlGSqKw7Y1LEymfuMSx-jF4Pe3DXnUbX9lbiBenX-bWVPCN5fOxVF3m6yCz4DkWZaUSrTw8M852AmKu9amp/s1600/P1060560_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Well folks, she almost snagged ALL of the Palatnik pieces. I joked with her that if she had more hands she would've succeeded. She did manage to get the ones that were in the best shape. I managed to get the camel with quite a bit of damage but I was not going to go home empty handed. I also found the Festivo candlestick and the teak snack trays there as well.<br />
<br />
Since I had done quite a bit of driving to get to that sale I didn't
want to drive that much more out of the way. I had planned a thrift loop
that worked well for my trip back home. However, there was an estate
sale that was advertised as having been the home of a Landscape
Architect and Sculptor. The sale sounded amazing and there weren't any
preview pictures so I'm sure everyone's imagination was running wild
because mine surely was. I arrived at the sale hours after they had
started and there was still a line to get in. They were limiting the
number of people who could enter because of the amount of items in the
home. Everyone walking out of the sale would comment on how amazing it
was yet they were only walking out with one or two things. Curious don't
you think?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhR9xJo8vzIQJcJ5UPc1nZpBnrRkxJgbZ2J9_FUcVt0_HkcYRmKjF28UK2SFa_-v8NxFfoMZrqjZr1WDAgZ5dP_PaLpENlc8tDWCUNlJVJNYAQzeGlDvLLKmps8cFOPIYKiAFRtcih767cT/s1600/P1060558_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhR9xJo8vzIQJcJ5UPc1nZpBnrRkxJgbZ2J9_FUcVt0_HkcYRmKjF28UK2SFa_-v8NxFfoMZrqjZr1WDAgZ5dP_PaLpENlc8tDWCUNlJVJNYAQzeGlDvLLKmps8cFOPIYKiAFRtcih767cT/s1600/P1060558_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
My number was finally called to enter the home and boy was I amazed at the amount of artwork. Both framed and unframed, all signed. I didn't recognize the names and the prices were definitely out of my price range to pull the trigger. It was looking like I was going to be one of those people walking out with one item but saying that it was an amazing sale. Everything changed when I walked into the kitchen. I saw one canister with the familiar black script and red dot. My perspective broadened and I saw all of the canisters above. <b style="color: #45818e;">Gadzooks!</b> I panicked momentarily because I didn't have a box or bag to carry all of them. I quickly looked around and luckily there was a dish strainer nearby and I positioned them all safely in there. For those of you wondering, these are all Freeman Lederman canisters that were designed by LaGardo Tackett. If all of these were there, I can only imagine that some of the biomorphic pieces must have been there too. I received several funny looks and I know people must have been wondering why the heck I was trying to get all of these canisters. I was giddy and that was all that mattered. At the same estate I found the copper printing block in the back. It has a lovely art deco graphic that I'll have to share with you when I ink it. <br />
<br />
Phew. I hope I haven't lost any of you. This is pretty long-winded for my posts. <br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
This picture brings me to a local estate sale this weekend. I saw a blurred picture of this lamp from afar in a room with some retro wood paneling and that was my reason for going to the sale. I slacked off and arrived 30 minutes prior to them opening and was about #30-40 in line. I saw a couple of hipsterish fellas and started kicking myself for not getting there earlier. I had to wait to get in because they were limiting the number of people they were allowing in. <b style="color: #45818e;">Ayayay</b>. When I was finally allowed in I walked to the room with the paneling and the lamp was still there! Without hesitation I walked toward it and turned it over. It was a Design-Line lamp (not Laurel like I originally thought) but still fantastic. I placed it in my bag and turned around only to find the green Design-Line Jack on the coffee table! I don't know the story about the lady whose estate it was but I felt she was a kindred spirit. She had a lot of craft supplies and pieces that were hard for me to say no to. As an example is the little wire critter standing in the back.<br />
<br />
You can learn more about it <a href="http://www.kikkerland.com/products/critter-wind-up/">here</a> and if you want to <a href="http://vimeo.com/25555982">see</a> it in action ( <i>i highly recommend watching it</i> <i>with the sound on</i>).... <br />
<br />
Lastly, I found these fantastic 3.5 pt Hudson Bay blankets that I'd been coveting. They are both in pretty good condition and are my first Hudson Bay finds to date. I will be listing one in the shop tomorrow. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Since I started reselling, I find that I am more willing to bring items home. Of course I wouldn't have said no to the items in this post even if I wasn't reselling but I definitely don't feel as guilty. That being said, I am getting overwhelmed by the inventory that needs to be listed. If you've ever been interested in some of my finds, stay tuned to my shop because I will be listing up a storm this month!<br />

Especially with all of the distractions of the interwebs and multiple social networking media. Anyone else find themselves with this problem?<br />
<br />
I usually have a lot of things that I <i>plan</i> to accomplish during the week and well, I'm lucky to get through half of them. Enough about that though! I'm glad to be posting on a Saturday. I haven't managed to do that in a while.<br />
<br />
I've been pretty lucky at the thrifts lately and the shop is also doing well. This makes me feel like I'm doing <i>something</i> right. I have high hopes for my little shop and other ventures so this just motivates me to keep pushing. <br />

This wall plaque is one of a few that I found at a thrift recently. I knew I had seen them before but I could not remember who produced them. Luckily, Alamodern is a pretty comprehensive site and thus my questions were answered. <br />

These plaques are made by Saint Andrew's Abbey and they are all similar in style. While I am not typically fond of religious souvenirs and figurines, I do appreciate the style that they have. <br />

A week or two ago I found this get little coffeepot by Figgjo of Norway in the Lotte pattern. I listed it in the shop and my gut told me to add Australia as one of the shipping locations and that's exactly where it went! I have yet to add the <i>Everywhere Else</i> option in my shipping locations but I hear it's great for sales. <b><i style="color: #134f5c;">Buyers</i></b>: <i>If and when you find something you like on Etsy do you convo the seller about a shipping quote if they don't have it listed or do you end up changing your mind to avoid the hassle?</i> I'd love to know.<br />

Since I missed posting last week I have a backlog of items to share with you. Trust me, I'm not complaining because the thrifting has finally picked up in my neck of the woods. I was beginning to think that 2011 was an anomaly and that my thrift luck had just about run out. Boy was I wrong.<br />

For some reason or another, there haven't been many estate sales in my area. Whether it was because of a holiday weekend or because some of the local companies just don't have clients. I don't know. However, this item is from an estate sale as are the next two. This is a beautiful Finnish glass vase designed by Tamara Aladin. <br />

I love these mod wire/ mesh racks. I don't know if it's the simplicity of the design that I like but what I do know is that if I see one, I more oft than not have to pick it up. <br />

I found this great little paper clip letter holder at the same estate. It's kitschy, mod and fantastic. <br />
<br />

On my way back from the estate sale I passed by a thrift that I hadn't been to in several months. I usually don't have much luck at this particular one but this time I did. I found this stunning woodblock print by Shodo Kawarazaki. It has several marks in the margins and Bryan from <a href="http://www.alamodern.com/">Alamodern</a> was kind enough to help decipher some of them. There are marks from the publisher, the date, as well as the artist's name.<br />

In keeping with the Japanese theme, I found this cute Japanese Cedar bear figurine. He is also signed on one side. I know I referred to this figurine as a bear but I am wondering if this creature has a special meaning because I've seen several similar iterations. Anyone know?<br />

This was one of last week's finds but it has a story that goes along with it. I was doing a usual thrift loop of mine (one I hadn't done in a while because of a transitional car situation) and I stopped by a thrift that is typically hit or miss. I've been at this thrift when they bring out carts of new stuff and the 'regulars' that usually sit by the back waiting for said carts are surely a sight. I stay away from the carts while they push, pull, and trip over each other. This day was no exception. I was in one of the aisles and the commotion had died down so I started making my way to them and then I saw the bowl. My heart sank. It was still sitting there unclaimed and just as I was about to reach for it a little girl put her hand on it to show to her mom. "Dangit", I thought, I just missed out on this bowl by a few seconds! But then, like music to my ears, the mom told her not to touch it and leave it behind. So goes the story of my first Finel bowl find in the wild. I hesitated to put it in the shop and I thought it would sit a bit longer but I listed it and it sold within a couple of days. Goodbye beautiful bowl.<br />

Another first for me is this Ultima Thule sugar bowl. I've always coveted the Ultima Thule finds from other thrifters and for once I found my own! Can you believe this is the first time I've found one of these in the wild?<br />
<br />
Lastly, I am finally sharing a piece that I collect. I purchased it from another reseller because sometimes that's what you have to do.<br />

It's a set of salad utensils designed by Michael Lax for Raymor Capri. They are a combination of porcelain and walnut. They are 14" long! It's hard to determine the scale without any objects paired with it so...<br />

I decided to show you how big the ceramic portions are by setting one of my Toikka birds in it. They're huge and I find the scale to be a bit garish but it is what it is. Scale is always a bit tricky when you just have online pictures for reference.<br />
<br />
I have plenty more goodies to share with you, but they'll have to wait till next week. What did you find this week? Please do share at <a href="http://herlibraryadventures.blogspot.com/">Sophie's</a>. <br />

I've been meaning to do something like this for a while and I finally got around to it. It should come as no surprise to you that I love to shop. Not only do I love to shop, but I love a great bargain. I spend countless hours scouring craigslist, etsy, ebay, thrift stores and estate sales. This has gotten worse since we are house hunting and putting offers on homes. I am naturally a dreamer so I can't help but plan for our future home. Also, since I can't buy everything I like, I would love to share with you some of the lovely pieces I find. <br />
<br />
While I wish I could do this on a weekly basis, it takes quite a bit of time to photoshop the items. I'll just say I'll do these when the mood strikes. However, if these posts gain popularity, I may make it a regular feature. Just leave me a lovely comment if the mood strikes you. :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Alas, this is my first vignette. If you have any constructive feedback, I am all ears!<br />
<br />
I feel this set has a balance between feminine and masculine items. Most of these items can be found in my local craigslist ads except for the paint color (Sherwin Williams' Reflection), white wood floor and the lovely woodblock print. (The woodblock print is a thrift find that I have yet to share with you... sshhhhh)<br />

<div style="color: #134f5c; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"></span></div>
I know the rug and mirror aren't total bargains, but you get the idea right? There are a couple of new Ikea <a href="http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80104862/">rugs</a> that could be swapped with this one and would be half the price!<br />
<br />
While my home currently has a lot of Danish Modern items. I do love a warm, cozy and eclectic room. I was inspired when I saw the brass double bed. One thing led to another and I couldn't stop picturing all of these items together for a room. I have other pieces that didn't make the cut for a bedroom but they may work for an office/ craft room. I think that the brass bed and the lamp are total bargains. Don't you agree?<br />

It's time for me to catch-up on the ol' bloggeroo. I've neglected it for too long and I feel guilty for doing so! This week I didn't do much thrifting, the boy and I are operating on one car for the time being which makes things a bit difficult. We're also spending a lot of time house hunting and just put in an offer on our second house. Hopefully this one will go through.<br />
<br />
So since I didn't <i>really</i> go thrifting this week, I'll be sharing finds from the past couple of weeks (some of these items are already in the shop, that's how behind I am!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I happen to love all of these letter holder critters. I'm not sure what this one is, but it looks like a worm attached to a 4 legged animal!<br />

I've been on a fabric kick lately. I couldn't resist these fun fabrics, especially at their prices. I love them all but the gray one with the little hearts captures my heart. Now if only I had a sewing machine...<br />

<br />
I got a good laugh out of this tray! It's made by Villeroy and Boch and it has a Naif wedding scene by Gerard LaPlau. The Design Naif (naive) line consisted of folk art representations of country life. Let's just say this one depicts a scene of a runaway groom. <br />

Lastly, is this lovely set of dishes with whimsical illustrations by Rowland Emett. He was an English cartoonist who also designed and constructed whimsical kinetic sculptures. He designed the inventions of Caractacus Potts for the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Many of his sculptures are in museums. I would really love to see some in person, wouldn't you?<br />

You are truly appreciated each and every day!<br />

This week I continued to not have much luck at the thrifts but I did manage to swing by some antique malls that had fairly priced items. Thanks to some #thriftbreak folks I pulled the trigger on some of the antique store items despite the higher than usual (for me that is) price tags. <br />

This beautiful set of china was my only thrift find this week. It has a really nice detail and looks very much like op art porcelain bisque items. This is the Arcta pattern designed by Richard Scharrer for Thomas Germany. These are in the <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/vintagescapes">shop</a> already. <br />
<br />

<br />
I picked up these mod style candle holders at a local estate sale. I love their atomic shape!<br />
<br />

<br />
This is one of the items I picked up at an antique mall. I took a picture with my phone because I was captivated with the color of the glaze. I left it behind along with another ikebana because of the price tags. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4kWjOA9fZOTF279JcTBJnpIroCC3Y_FjN7MCYDDks4VF0ABQYr4RNlrVYZd9MYKFzumRcgqbIixg_8b6ds4EBbS-imw3Uzr7FZz-nZx2I8ewZAAh5juUtRaedoISs8H5VCW7fOeMvAiKQ/s1600/P1060106_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4kWjOA9fZOTF279JcTBJnpIroCC3Y_FjN7MCYDDks4VF0ABQYr4RNlrVYZd9MYKFzumRcgqbIixg_8b6ds4EBbS-imw3Uzr7FZz-nZx2I8ewZAAh5juUtRaedoISs8H5VCW7fOeMvAiKQ/s1600/P1060106_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Later in the day when I was at home I decided to start doing some research on the items. These pieces were done by notable Chicago potter Edna Arnow. I started chatting with <a href="http://mistertrueblackjack.blogspot.com%20/">fellow</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/#%21/CharlieBodden">#thriftbreak-er</a>s who knew more about the artist. Since I had already decided I was going to trek back to the antique store I knew I had to take another look and see if the price was right. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5blDj38dXXwrkw15TcAr1UplLXT5GD3Jcvp0wGKqGQvfIhyphenhyphenRXx56c7jLBtn67N7ihAvgeHWd25qpiXjBAFxSGjjwrEkymyU3mraqrvDgwtd8yMw5f5QGlZf9x1vwLlMLcQcuGHrb31mn2/s1600/P1060105_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5blDj38dXXwrkw15TcAr1UplLXT5GD3Jcvp0wGKqGQvfIhyphenhyphenRXx56c7jLBtn67N7ihAvgeHWd25qpiXjBAFxSGjjwrEkymyU3mraqrvDgwtd8yMw5f5QGlZf9x1vwLlMLcQcuGHrb31mn2/s1600/P1060105_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
The reason I had decided that I was going to go back to the antique store was because of these beauties. This was the first time I've come across birds by Oiva Toikka. The one on the left is the Common Bullfinch and has a beautiful subtle orange sheen on the red chest. The one on the right is the Baby Crow. The price was a bit steep for my taste but once again the #thriftbreak folks on twitter saved the day and convinced me that the price was definitely right.<br />
<br />
All in all I spent a little more than I usually do but I think the items were well worth it. I'll be linking up with <a href="http://herlibraryadventures.blogspot.com/">Sophie</a> and <a href="http://apronthriftgirl.typepad.com/apron_thrift_girl">Selena</a> on this beautiful Mother's Day. <br />

<br />
<br />
This week I had a hard time finding small collectibles which is what I tend to look for. I searched high and low to no avail, sort of. However, when one door closes another opens and this door happened to be accessories. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-UiZtXRZwnwcTodFuGyOhzQ2KFO1Wxf0BokWlQQdfulYERUGibTE-Ed6iq-ldN7Uov30ljbTfdSdu0QWFBsmDtK3rvXXzawWun_YG9Ht1ctMRGvuOVpZDayuGf6CTZXRH55gPFF3M07VA/s1600/P1060075_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-UiZtXRZwnwcTodFuGyOhzQ2KFO1Wxf0BokWlQQdfulYERUGibTE-Ed6iq-ldN7Uov30ljbTfdSdu0QWFBsmDtK3rvXXzawWun_YG9Ht1ctMRGvuOVpZDayuGf6CTZXRH55gPFF3M07VA/s1600/P1060075_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I am always drawn to fun little bags and this was no exception. It could be used as a clutch or a small portfolio. If an accessory has hot pink I am very likely to pick it up. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXqM2x-6F5LdtvWKmyeYic1UVyUEuvjtHeZQeBVW10dVL2W6dGkp-NqsYQCHkaFAD10PtAZ7OvljCGdsRORaehntOO_dDmx1am_RfB-bbqsN2q0C6KPcDrIOuF9Aa7-g0KEMHkaaIhgmmb/s1600/P1060080_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXqM2x-6F5LdtvWKmyeYic1UVyUEuvjtHeZQeBVW10dVL2W6dGkp-NqsYQCHkaFAD10PtAZ7OvljCGdsRORaehntOO_dDmx1am_RfB-bbqsN2q0C6KPcDrIOuF9Aa7-g0KEMHkaaIhgmmb/s1600/P1060080_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I thought this bag was nice too. I love the color of the leather and the inlay of a silk persian rug/ tapestry. It's small and bohemian and tugs at my bohemian heartstrings. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOaJxVq_du57eGVrWXZ1tumbEeT72DMXYnVLEkzFQEronE6VjI_lnzNdb0b3CR4cxem7WzgCm_sst3wnK5E-IyHnt9nk6ZhIu8cC96JN31pqSmiNI_sGZtBemJo_X80S940lGzjKA9_hVp/s1600/P1060085_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOaJxVq_du57eGVrWXZ1tumbEeT72DMXYnVLEkzFQEronE6VjI_lnzNdb0b3CR4cxem7WzgCm_sst3wnK5E-IyHnt9nk6ZhIu8cC96JN31pqSmiNI_sGZtBemJo_X80S940lGzjKA9_hVp/s1600/P1060085_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Pink + Kilim, how can you go wrong? The last two bags came from the same estate and are in pretty good condition except for that vintage <i>smell</i>. Anyone know how to make it go away? I have a little pouch of baking soda in them but it's not doing much...<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgd7alpgr0BjJRlrGr6gcm18XU1U24lEJSGQ1_TOxkCe-0qaG8UzgOuzYdwGNL9a5j-_ZhK7iofaNtlsLvj_x0rIHRAelAp0j7KP04iv7VOhXTcWfbMEWYt7Tj0L4qNj0u5-eKzD2oFaw81/s1600/P1060101_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgd7alpgr0BjJRlrGr6gcm18XU1U24lEJSGQ1_TOxkCe-0qaG8UzgOuzYdwGNL9a5j-_ZhK7iofaNtlsLvj_x0rIHRAelAp0j7KP04iv7VOhXTcWfbMEWYt7Tj0L4qNj0u5-eKzD2oFaw81/s1600/P1060101_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
This next piece I picked up because I had a gut reaction to it. From memory I thought it looked incredibly similar to some Zeisel <a href="http://modish.net/hall-china">ceramic pitchers</a> and so I decided to take a gamble. I've searched the internet but have not found one exactly like it. It could be vintage, it could be new, I really have no idea. It looks similar to some Blenko pitchers but not quite. However, in the process I know a little more about Zeisel's work for Heisey. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgE4Lw0QqC2SQ6GB7aiDTUrG7VyguStR9sHZrs8CyCSUOF4FZrw-tCN5TNMzyCJu8atj-DvFwvQ7EcJKLXpao2XgeK7ow6Jdgg9pemTHkRO9qQkixXIo3PsA2P4b2nySG0CA55PwAZjA32/s1600/P1060047_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgE4Lw0QqC2SQ6GB7aiDTUrG7VyguStR9sHZrs8CyCSUOF4FZrw-tCN5TNMzyCJu8atj-DvFwvQ7EcJKLXpao2XgeK7ow6Jdgg9pemTHkRO9qQkixXIo3PsA2P4b2nySG0CA55PwAZjA32/s1600/P1060047_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This piece is another mystery. I was drawn to the earthy tones and textures and it must have come from a donor who liked earthenware/ stoneware because there were a few pieces at this particular thrift. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5i0JStY0_hTzmYn58HT4HngNYdlHDOyvORzeS67GO9lLfart3LP_X19TIgjM5KN-NXfyU3bgydgejQfteSu-ClNNkiSAymS8EHA86uezhfA_4a-ccO8qfd4EjUV8l1_q3LUaRTOVHY9Ef/s1600/P1060050_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5i0JStY0_hTzmYn58HT4HngNYdlHDOyvORzeS67GO9lLfart3LP_X19TIgjM5KN-NXfyU3bgydgejQfteSu-ClNNkiSAymS8EHA86uezhfA_4a-ccO8qfd4EjUV8l1_q3LUaRTOVHY9Ef/s1600/P1060050_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
It's a mystery because this is the mark I have to go off of. It has led me to discover Sturt Pottery from Australia but I don't think that's what this is. It could be British because they have similar stamps from what I've seen but I really have no idea. I would appreciate <i>ANY</i> help. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpHuCV9CiRf7bSLZQKc_DfygXsGCAdZ5OKIaxiIzX9hwA7EIV06wE5Yx0zwB9HkDRaMRf-CCgpHTEU-I_VgtJlF6XGfCxCQgQSiUe9qjguB22oE9bY1s1wBiylXdrhFex9O2a9JGdlI2F9/s1600/P1060052_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpHuCV9CiRf7bSLZQKc_DfygXsGCAdZ5OKIaxiIzX9hwA7EIV06wE5Yx0zwB9HkDRaMRf-CCgpHTEU-I_VgtJlF6XGfCxCQgQSiUe9qjguB22oE9bY1s1wBiylXdrhFex9O2a9JGdlI2F9/s1600/P1060052_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This is my last mystery. This was at the same thrift as the previous piece of pottery and I was drawn to it as well. It has a little bit of a purple-ish hue which I find to be nice. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6aWwuorYnXFgEPh3VW3SRD-nGg4zVDS6LWPTBB_HI8wgqq0G8HHldIDCMeuWTE1tvX1fCYKbKaVE04hFSOhzaB8y1OjwuqVuH370_M_hNwMsyXdo5U4BxRxzNl3MM4kXsIvEhM5U4mW2s/s1600/P1060056_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6aWwuorYnXFgEPh3VW3SRD-nGg4zVDS6LWPTBB_HI8wgqq0G8HHldIDCMeuWTE1tvX1fCYKbKaVE04hFSOhzaB8y1OjwuqVuH370_M_hNwMsyXdo5U4BxRxzNl3MM4kXsIvEhM5U4mW2s/s1600/P1060056_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
If there are any Japanese or Chinese readers, can you tell me what this mark says? I don't even know what kind of characters they are. In trying to search for similar pieces I came across a <a href="http://www.australianpotteryatbemboka.com.au/shop/index.php?manufacturers_id=39">Japanese potter</a> that worked for Sturt pottery. I don't think it is one of his pieces but it's as far as I've gotten with the research. These pieces may give me a few new gray hairs! <br />
<br />
Last week I said I would catch up with my Liebster award but I failed, I had a deadline this week that was stressing me out but now that it's done and over with I'm going to dedicate a post to the Liebster this week.<br />
<br />
If you like any of the items that you see feel free to contact me, many of them will be put in the shop!<br />
<br />
I'll be linking up with the usual suspects <a href="http://apronthriftgirl.typepad.com/apron_thrift_girl">Selena</a> and <a href="http://herlibraryadventures.blogspot.com/">Sophie</a>.<br />

Have a great week!<br />Vintage Scapeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01357852920957397183noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1193011109319101320.post-49856517704467173862012-04-29T14:00:00.000-07:002012-04-29T14:04:52.440-07:00Hunted::Gathered: 04/29/12Hey all, in case you haven't noticed, I'm running a bit late this week. I had a couple of nice finds this week but nothing like some of my fellow thrifters. I did a couple of my usual loops but my mind is cluttered with things I need to do so my junkin' heart has not been at ease. Now that I've started listing things on Etsy I've realized <i>how much</i> I need to list... and it's a lot! I also find myself not picking up some of the things I normally would, for instance I passed on a nice dish set by Thomas of Germany in the Arcta pattern. It's still nagging me and if it's still around this week I may just pick it up, but the thought of picking up more dishes kind of drains me.<br />
<br />
On a positive note, I had what I consider to be a good week on Etsy. Sure the things I sold were small, but it felt nice. I'm going to try to devise a system of photographing, editing, listing, etc. so that I'm a bit more efficient 'cause otherwise it takes <i>so</i> much time! Any experienced sellers wanna share some quick tips?<br />
<br />
Alright, so on to my finds:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2buFVJ_I5T7fP3CLN6PMPqveckaNvtiURe5swUrkF8CvV483LBnstN0sFoFWsrCVlrhLLc72pvd1JRc3YLHrFMuVIMftPJkpqMgs7HBzhmPd2r4CtrCfKkTga6pbvTuKGJDp7H2dslpQH/s1600/P1060018_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2buFVJ_I5T7fP3CLN6PMPqveckaNvtiURe5swUrkF8CvV483LBnstN0sFoFWsrCVlrhLLc72pvd1JRc3YLHrFMuVIMftPJkpqMgs7HBzhmPd2r4CtrCfKkTga6pbvTuKGJDp7H2dslpQH/s1600/P1060018_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I like to call this selection sea and sand. A few nice blue hues paired with some earthy tones. From left to right is a Pottery Craft vase, a UCTCI vase (i think), and a lone Heath cup. I don't usually like to pick up lone cups but the color was too pretty!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVVW4l_J6xIFyXXci7TOgjXm9yTB296RLKEuvYU2Ir51um1MFl0vWIfeEGvls_ybHMnfWpmHNk-xRgpmgeCuOZuyb53KajK0UnaNePSRYXyVuN5b-4WiGHkNgrtzCaMIa17SlwEM3o4kkr/s1600/P1060030_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVVW4l_J6xIFyXXci7TOgjXm9yTB296RLKEuvYU2Ir51um1MFl0vWIfeEGvls_ybHMnfWpmHNk-xRgpmgeCuOZuyb53KajK0UnaNePSRYXyVuN5b-4WiGHkNgrtzCaMIa17SlwEM3o4kkr/s1600/P1060030_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
There was just something about this planter. It is a Takahashi wall hanging planter but I loved the hanging cord and the overall feel of this piece. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTL3JNm5w3-r5aElX9XI4Dq1YcXwjA6UpwbSYtu9GeCMAa-8bD6hvwAA2B8oE8NgggHdPnBsXOzc3uy6UmsLA4ItRWJ5L1HEPIt4Aosfmf9W3N8mi_DKTe6Zh5QUpZTFHWdyTzuovgwFuQ/s1600/P1060036_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTL3JNm5w3-r5aElX9XI4Dq1YcXwjA6UpwbSYtu9GeCMAa-8bD6hvwAA2B8oE8NgggHdPnBsXOzc3uy6UmsLA4ItRWJ5L1HEPIt4Aosfmf9W3N8mi_DKTe6Zh5QUpZTFHWdyTzuovgwFuQ/s1600/P1060036_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
What's not to love about this little doggie paper sorter? I've come across these before but in black, I couldn't resist this brassy one. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2UWNpYMpen2LCeeRFNGcVXQstHAX79lScURa9ukWSqvzoDeXKM1EJiqRB9szchwgtt450frwoe96g1fcpnUWm-vi468M-qNyUJU1wjdAr_34R0g6VbwSDLgPDBwNuDEWNsE4WE-XTqbC7/s1600/P1060039_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2UWNpYMpen2LCeeRFNGcVXQstHAX79lScURa9ukWSqvzoDeXKM1EJiqRB9szchwgtt450frwoe96g1fcpnUWm-vi468M-qNyUJU1wjdAr_34R0g6VbwSDLgPDBwNuDEWNsE4WE-XTqbC7/s1600/P1060039_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
My heart nearly stopped when I saw this piece. I missed out on one at a recent estate sale and although I think this is a repro (<i>it's marked Taiwan</i>), it's still awesome and heavy as all heck! These pieces are often attributed to George Nelson but it appears that the designer of this piece is more than likely Bill Curry for design-line. <br />

Lastly, I had to pick up these pieces of fabric. I try to stay away from this because I don't sew but these proved to be too fun to pass up. The one on the left has a great gold print onto a rich purple and I already have DIY's in mind for it. The center one has a great pattern and vibrant colors for summer. The one on the right also got me with the colors, just so fun!<br />
<br />
I have some catching up to do in another blog post about some Liebster awards (don't worry, I haven't forgotten) so stay tuned this week for my passing of the baton to 5 lucky bloggers!<br />
<br />
I'll be linking up with the lovely ladies <a href="http://herlibraryadventures.blogspot.com/">Sophie</a> and <a href="http://apronthriftgirl.typepad.com/apron_thrift_girl">Selena</a>. <br />

I hope so! It's been a bit of a roller-coaster for me but it's having a much better ending than beginning.
<br />
I haven't kept it a secret that my local thrifts haven't been abundant. A lot of my latest finds have been through estate sales and even from picking antique malls. I've even started picking Etsy! While I find myself telling a lot of sellers what they have there are some things that I just have to have.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmW9i4z9X3nfqtVcnbTPEURHpiFoKBcOJpCSePZC87kbzd_Nv5nlHz8MuW-I_DPtlQ0E5nbfzi7C3iDH9wzJHD4JGTCowj0zBm41pHu-Qsd7iAwd_cDU35f9QIEUVMfXp45n5P9Gtlosao/s1600/P1030169%25282%2529_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmW9i4z9X3nfqtVcnbTPEURHpiFoKBcOJpCSePZC87kbzd_Nv5nlHz8MuW-I_DPtlQ0E5nbfzi7C3iDH9wzJHD4JGTCowj0zBm41pHu-Qsd7iAwd_cDU35f9QIEUVMfXp45n5P9Gtlosao/s1600/P1030169%25282%2529_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
My very first Etsy pick is this lovely platter in the Raymor Capri line by Michael Lax. I found my very first piece from this line when I had just started thrifting in SoCal. I picked it up and considered the price of $2.99. It was a divided bowl that I just didn't need at the time, but it was so beautiful! Luckily the boy is much better at just going for things and insisted that I get it. There was a fellow thrifter stalking me hoping I would put it down. <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/46936603@N07/5521672218/in/photostream">I didn't</a>. I paid quite a bit more for this one but I don't often come across these pieces. <br />
<br />
Last weekend I was on my way to a swap meet and as soon as I got off of the freeway there was a loud tapping sound that lasted for a few seconds. It scared the crap out of me! Not long after, a maintenance light came on in my car. Uh oh. Just the day before the same light had come up and it turned out to be low air pressure in one of my tires. Since I had corrected the problem the day before (or so I thought) this shouldn't have happened. I called the boy in a panic, after all of my driving was I not going to be able to walk through the swap meet. These are life altering decisions here! (kidding)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8sVOl-SDQJnVCsA8EMpR51__kS95YC54o6AA4TH-ewRlXX0iLTpNZmtgurh2rgQPBim31Id1526EZ4r5sXWwbjgB8DLCv5zdMTPdF-hm5qDO2OavT1KExWrhxpYfKDqk8RpyVnbd0i2b_/s1600/P1050855_small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8sVOl-SDQJnVCsA8EMpR51__kS95YC54o6AA4TH-ewRlXX0iLTpNZmtgurh2rgQPBim31Id1526EZ4r5sXWwbjgB8DLCv5zdMTPdF-hm5qDO2OavT1KExWrhxpYfKDqk8RpyVnbd0i2b_/s1600/P1050855_small.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
He told me to relax, that I'd be able to walk around for a bit but
that I should go to the nearest dealer. He thought they may have mounted
the tire wrong. As I walked around the swap meet I couldn't help but
worry about being stranded in the parking lot. I hurriedly walked around
and then decided enough was enough and started walking back. Luckily I
spotted a red Dansk platter that caught my eye and stopped for a second.
I knelt down and saw this funny little scale next to it. I had seen it
before on <a href="http://www.alamodern.com/">Alamodern</a>'s site and
so I knew it was special. I was playing around with it and thought it
was broken at first but it turns out it is just ingeniously designed!
(The clear part rotates freely so that you can weight items in kg or
lb)<br />
<br />
So my trip to the swap meet wasn't a total miss after all. I went to the nearest dealer and their service center was closed! While there I took another look at the tire and noticed a nail sticking out on the inside part of the tire. I put some air in the tire and crossed my fingers that I'd make it home, taking all of the side streets of course. <br />

<br />
Luckily I have a handy dandy Mister who has some (tire plugs)? and look at what he took out of the tire! Does that count as a <i>find</i>? If it does I'd rather not <i>find</i> those things in my tire again. ;)<br />
<br />
Later in the week I went on my usual weekly route and came back empty handed. I visited 8 thrifts and all I got was an emptier gas tank. That's been the story for the past few weeks. It happens. <br />

Yesterday, I decided to try my luck at another usual thrift. Different than the ones from my 'loop' and look at what I found. I couldn't believe my eyes and must have looked stunned 'cause I didn't move, kind of like a tiger ready to pounce. Since I found a <a href="http://vintagescapes.blogspot.com/2012/03/hunted-gathered-033112.html">nice set</a> from this line last month the curves were as clear as day in my mind. The lid, the handle, the spout and the color. I picked it up and I turned it over, no marks. That's probably why it was still there. I'm sure if it had a floral pattern it would've been gone!<br />
<br />
I was ecstatic, my heart was racing and as if it weren't enough I went through the rest of the store looking for more. In the end she was the only one, but boy was she a good one! Finding a lot of these pieces recently only makes me wonder if I've overlooked them in the past. I probably have. It's the nature of the game and one can only look forward.<br />
<br />
So did you have an eventful week? I'll be linking up with <a href="http://apronthriftgirl.typepad.com/apron_thrift_girl">Selena</a> and <a href="http://herlibraryadventures.blogspot.com/">Sophie</a> and hope you do too. <br />
